Build Simple Systems / Policies

Policies, in plain English.
No wall of legalese. A few plain-English policies and disclaimers for using this site and working with me. The binding terms of any actual engagement are in the agreement I send you for that work.

The strategy call
The strategy call is $300 for 60 minutes, and I screen it first. Before we meet, I look at what you've told me to make sure I can actually be useful to you. If I don't think I'm the right person to help, I'll say so, and you won't be charged (or I'll refund you if you've already paid).
Once we've had the call, it's non-refundable, since the time has been spent. If you go on to an audit or a build, the $300 is credited toward it.
Audits, builds and Care
These are bigger pieces of work, so they run under their own written terms rather than this page. When an audit or build makes sense, you get the scope, the price, the timing and who owns what spelled out in a short agreement for that specific work, and we both sign off before anything starts. An ongoing Care plan, if you want it once you're live, is quoted and agreed the same way. That signed agreement, not this page, is what governs the actual work.
The honest bit on liability
Virtually all software contains bugs. It's a nearly unavoidable part of software development. It is not grounds for a refund. On very rare occasions a design decision can cause damage to a business. These are never done intentionally and my liability will not exceed what was paid to me for the engagement. Nothing here limits liability that the law won't allow me to limit.
This is a plain-English summary written by a non-lawyer. The binding terms of any specific engagement live in that engagement's signed agreement, not on this page.
