Build Simple Systems / Privacy
Last updated · June 18, 2026
Privacy, in plain English.
Short version: I collect almost nothing, I never sell your data, and you can leave anytime. Here's the longer version, still plain.
The email list
If you join the list, I collect one thing: your email address. I use it to send a newsletter (new writing, the occasional product or business update). That's the whole reason it exists.
- I won't sell, rent or share your email with a third party.
- I won't spam you, or use your address for anything you didn't sign up for.
- Unsubscribe anytime with the link in any email, and your address is removed from the list.
Your email is stored with the provider I use to send the newsletter (currently Resend), and nowhere else.
If you start an audit or work with me
When you fill out the questionnaire, or we go on to an audit or a build, you'll share more: your name, your email, and details about your business, your goals and the systems you use. I store this securely in my own working tools and use it only to help you. I won't sell your data or hand it to anyone who isn't helping build your project. Because I build with AI tools, some of what you share may pass through the AI providers I use; I choose reputable ones and keep your data out of model training wherever I can.
I keep your business data while we're working together and delete it once we're done, holding on to only a minimal record of the engagement plus the invoices and tax records I'm legally required to keep. If we never end up working together, I delete what you sent within 12 months.
If you're in the EU or UK, you can ask me to delete your personal data anytime and I'll do it, apart from those records I'm legally required to keep.
Cookies and tracking
I don't use cookies to track you or show ads, and I don't run analytics that build a profile of you. There's no dark/light toggle or anything else saving preferences on your device. Like any website, my host keeps short-lived security logs and may set one strictly necessary cookie to keep the site online and block abuse; none of that is used to follow you around or identify you personally.
Written by a non-lawyer, in plain English, on purpose. It isn't a substitute for legal advice. If your project has specific regulatory needs (health, finance, children's data and so on), we'll handle those directly in your build agreement.
Questions about how I'd handle your data?
Just ask.
How your app handles data (auth, encryption, backups) is part of every written audit. Or email me about anything on this page.
