Build Simple Systems / Terms

The terms, without the legalese.
What you can expect from me, and what I expect back. Anything binding for a specific piece of work is spelled out in the written agreement for that work.

Anything on my public website is for informational purposes only and not advice for your specific situation.
The strategy call
The strategy call is $300 for 60 minutes, and I screen it first. Before we meet, I look at what you've told me to make sure I can actually be useful to you. If I don't think I'm the right person to help, I'll say so, and you won't be charged (or I'll refund you if you've already paid).
Once we've had the call, it's non-refundable, since the time has been spent. If you go on to an audit, this is the call the audit starts with, and the $300 comes off the audit fee.
Audits, systems and Care
These are bigger pieces of work, so they run under their own written terms rather than this page. When an audit or a system makes sense, you get the scope, the price, the timing and who owns what spelled out in a short agreement for that specific work, and we both sign off before anything starts. An ongoing Care plan, if you want it once you're live, is quoted and agreed the same way.
An audit comes before a system, because I won't quote a build I haven't looked into properly. Anything you have already paid me comes off the next step, so what you spend on a call or an audit is not on top of the price of your system.
How long a quote and a credit last
The build quote in your audit holds for six months. Anything you have already paid me comes off your system for a year.
After that, I'd want to look again before I put a number on anything. Businesses move, and my prices move too. A year later I'd be quoting work I haven't actually looked at, and you'd be buying a plan written for a version of your business you've since grown out of. If enough has changed that the audit needs doing again, that's new work at the current price.
If you're coming back after a while, say so when you get in touch. I'd rather talk about it than have you guess at the answer.
Liability
All software has bugs, including my own. A software bug isn't grounds for a refund on its own. I write software carefully and with the intention of avoiding bugs and problems. But if software I ship ever causes real damage to your business, my liability is capped at what you paid me for the engagement. Nothing limits my liability beyond what the law will allow me to limit.
